Attendance Matters

Every day at Wooten is intentionally designed to help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Classroom discussions, hands-on learning, collaborative projects, and community-building experiences cannot always be recreated when a student is absent.

When students attend school regularly and arrive on time, they build strong routines, meaningful friendships, and the confidence that comes from being an active member of our learning community.

We encourage every student to maintain at least 90% attendance, while Wooten strives for a 97% campus daily attendance rate because every day counts.

The attendance taking time for Wooten Elementary is at 9:45am. Your child must be physically present in their classroom when attendance is taken in order for them to be counted as present. For this reason, we highly encourage all appointments to occur after the attendance taking time.

Reporting an Absence

If your child is absent, please submit documentation using the AISD School Absence Form or a paper absence form available in the front office.

Please note: Phone calls and voicemail messages cannot be accepted as attendance documentation.

Documentation should be submitted within seven calendar days of your student's return to school.

Excused Absences

The following absences may be excused when appropriate documentation is provided:

  • Illness
  • Medical appointments (with physician documentation)
  • Religious holy days
  • Funeral or family emergency
  • Approved school shadow visits (maximum of two days with documentation)

Unexcused Absences

The following are generally considered unexcused:

  • Family vacations or travel
  • Oversleeping
  • Traffic or car trouble
  • Family events
  • Missing attendance documentation
  • Leaving school early without appropriate documentation

Early Student Pick-Up

If your child needs to leave school before dismissal:

  • Bring a valid photo ID.
  • Sign your child out in the front office.
  • Students leaving for medical appointments should provide a doctor's note.
  • Anyone picking up a Wooten student must be on the official pick-up list in order for your child to be released

To minimize disruptions to learning and ensure a safe dismissal process, we kindly ask families to avoid checking students out during the final hour of the school day whenever possible. We kindly ask families to make pick-up arrangements before the final hour. Please refrain from early pick-ups within the 2:10-3:10 window.

Stay Connected

Families can monitor attendance, tardies, and grades anytime through the AISD Parent Portal (Parent Self Serve).

❤️ Every Day Counts

At Wooten, we believe children thrive when they are present, connected, and engaged.

Every day they are here, students strengthen their academic skills, build friendships, discover new passions, and create memories that become part of their magical elementary experience.

Come early. Eat together. Connect with friends. Be ready to learn. Every day counts at Wooten.
