Welcome to the Howl & Chow Café
At Wooten Elementary, our Howl & Chow Café is more than just a cafeteria—it's a place where students begin their day with friends, build community, and fuel their minds and bodies for learning.
We believe that healthy meals, meaningful conversations, and a welcoming environment help students thrive. Whether students are enjoying breakfast before class or sharing lunch with classmates, the Howl & Chow Café is an important part of the Wooten experience.

Lunch
Lunch is served daily between approximately 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., with each class enjoying a 30-minute lunch period (this includes going through the serving line, enjoying their meal, and clean-up).
Every meal is designed to provide students with the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow. Our menus include fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and milk, while meeting federal nutrition standards.
Families Are Welcome!
Parents and caregivers are always welcome to join their child for lunch.
To help us maintain a safe campus:
- Please sign in through the front office upon arrival.
- A photo ID is required.
- Visitors must wear their visitor badge while on campus.
- Parents must wait in the designated area until their child's scheduled lunch period starts.
- Food brought from home is for your child only and may not be shared with other students.
- Parents/Caretakers will sit with their child in the visitor section.
We love seeing families enjoying lunch together!
Student Meal Accounts
Every student has a cafeteria account and a personal cafeteria PIN.
Families may:
- Add funds online through SchoolCafé
- Send cash with their student
- Deliver cash directly to the cafeteria
Parents may also set purchasing preferences, such as meals only, milk only, or snack restrictions.
Families will receive notifications when balances become low.

Menus
Daily breakfast and lunch menus, nutrition information, allergens, meal prices, and online payments are available through SchoolCafé.

Austin ISD's Nutrition & Food Services follows federal nutrition guidelines to provide balanced meals that support student health and learning.
Meals feature:

Low-fat or skim milk
Healthy entrée choices
Students may choose a complete meal or select individual items à la carte.
